A pair of runners are aiming to run 26.2 miles to raise vital funds for the WildLife Foundation.
Animal lovers Alison Thorburn and Emily Harbon’s intense training sessions are being fuelled by their support of the charity’s mission to conserve endangered species around the world. For their hard work and dedication, they will generate around £4,000 in donations.
Emily secured a spot in the London Marathon after winning an auction at the Wildlife Foundation’s Twilight Fundraising Ball at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The park is home to some of the world’s most beautiful and at-risk species, including polar bears and Amur leopards.
Alison, a data manager at a housing charity from Evenly Northamptonshire, missed out on a London Marathon place but will complete ‘the virtual’ marathon,’ running the distance around the streets of Doncaster on 27th April.
Alison has run one marathon before, almost three years ago in support of Dementia UK. The charity is especially close to her heart, as it supported her late mother when she was suffering from the devastating illness.
