Run For Wildlife Autumn 5k competitors run over 5,000km

A brave contingent of around 1,000 runners battled through downpours to raise more than £7,500 for WildLife Foundation in a 5k fun run around the park on Sunday 14th October.

The runners, joggers and walkers created a big splash and covered a combined distance of 5,070 kilometres (3,150 miles), the equivalent of a return trip from Doncaster to Marbella.

The Run for Wildlife 5K, organised by Curly’s Athletes, featured 990 adults and 120 juniors ranging from four-years-old to 84.

Each finisher was awarded a special giraffe themed medal and a t-shirt.

“The rain on Sunday morning didn’t dampen the spirits and it was an amazing event,” said Cheryl Williams, Trustee of the WildLife Foundation.

“Curly’s did another great job and a big thanks to all the marshals and helpers who kept everyone going through the rain.”

The funds will go to WildLife Foundation’s projects that are saving and nurturing endangered species around the world.
